Still Writing in my Diary

Apr. 23rd, 2006 03:26 pm Paper journal

So Im thankful I found out what all I've been missing while I was in my English conference. So I think I'm gonna work on that for a little while. I thought writing in a paper journal for a weekend was a good experience for me. I was very suprised with how much I wrote and how easy it was to write. I wrote so much in what felt like just a few minutes. There wasnt that much of a difference between keeping paper journals and online journals. Maybe just the privacy factor. I was suprised to find out how much I actually enjoy keeping journals. They are a good way to really get things off your chest, things that are troubling you and things that are just hard to keep secret. I know there are plenty of times I need to vent off some frustration. I think journals, no matter what kind or variety, are a very good way to do that. They allow a release of sorts. That way you dont allow negative things to build up inside you, things that could be harmful if you dont deal with them sooner or later.

Apr. 15th, 2006 05:31 pm Wil Wheaton entry

When I was younger, me and my brother were HUGE American Civil War fanatics. I would like to say I still am, as I still know just about every important battle in detail. But anyways, back to the point. We would gather up the neighborhood kids that were about our age, divide into even teams, and go off into the woods and farmland around our house. We would spend entire weekends out there, camping at night and fighting by day, just like real soldiers. We spent alot of time on details, making sure that the kids on the Confederate side wore gray or brown and the Kids on the Union side wore blue. We used toy rifles, pistols, even tree branches for makeshift rifles and swords. We even used our school bookbags as packs to carry food and water. I mean literally, the fights would last most of the day, then when it got really hot in the midafternoon, we would take a timeout and go swimming in my pool till it cooled down. Then we were right back out there again, in the woods sneaking from tree to tree, trying to ambush the kids on the other team. Those were the glory days you could say, when we didnt have so much responsibilities to keep up with. I miss those days, but now I hardly have time to just watch TV, let alone go out and hike in the woods. Kinda sad when I think about it.

Apr. 9th, 2006 04:44 pm Orange and White Game

Hey everyone how are yall doing today? Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far, I know I have! Friday I didnt do to much, as I had curfew at 11:00 pm. I just watched a movie and did laundry because I wasn't feeling very well all day. Saturday I had the orange and white game, the annual spring football game for the volunteers. At 8:45, we had meetings with our individual coaches, then our team meetings for the game. About 10:45 we had to be at Thompson-Boling Arena fully dressed for our fan day. We signed autographs for hundreds of fans for about an hour and a half. My wrists were starting to hurt pretty bad before it got over with. Then we headed to Neyland Stadium to get ready for the game, which started at 2:00. The game went by pretty fast for me, I didnt get much playing time the first three quarters, only on special teams. But as it got to the fourth quarter, I got to play the whole 4th on defense at cornerback. I didnt do all that great, as I missed like two tackles. But I did almost have a interception on a fade route in the endzone, but as I caught it, our safety knocked it out of my hands. Yea I was a little upset about that.
Saturday night though, me and my friends had another party in Knox place. It was a great night and I had alot of fun. I think most of the people there had alot of fun too. Today, I slept till noon and then had to get up for a kickball tournement. We did very good you could say, making it all the way to the championship game before losing 2-1. There were some questionable calls though, but there is nothing we can do about it now.

Mar. 27th, 2006 12:29 pm Spring Break

Ok, so I tried the whole Podcast thing and I didn't get much success there. Therefore, I'm just going to put it in a regular blog update. Well, theres not much to say about what I did, as I didn't get to go to the beach or anything like that (lack of funding). I went to Houston, Texas, to work for a promotion company that I usually work for during the summer. They do alot of promotion events for Toyota, such as Nascar races, Busch series, PBR rodeos, Indy races, etc, etc. I worked at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show. My job was pretty simple: set-up the display area, make sure none of the trucks get damaged during the event, then tear the display down. Did I mention the pay was EXCELLENT! I got around 400 dollars for less then 8 hours of work total. That isn't including the predium check that we eat off of. The only thing I disliked was that it rained most of the time, so no I did not get to work on my tan. Complete bummer, huh?
I went back home for a couple of days after the event. Nothing spectacular there, thats for sure. I spent most of the 3 days there just relaxing with my family, although I did go out with some of my closest friends I missed alot on Friday. Saturday, I headed back here to get a jump on getting settled back in. Before I did though, I stopped to see some of my old high school football coaches and teamates. The place seems like its definatly changing back home, hopefully for the better.

Mar. 15th, 2006 09:24 pm Well aint this B.E.A.utiful

So monday was very nice outside. I wish to thank Ms. D. for letting us take advantage of the nice weather and get outside. Unfortunatly, I didn't get to enjoy it for long, as I had classes till 1:00 in the afternoon. I wish the rest of my classes would let us go outside every once in awhile. But anyways, this weekend was a pretty dadgum good weekend (excuse the choice of words). I, along with my loyal and trusty crew, threw another huge success of a party on Friday. I'm telling you if you want to see a crowd of people then you have to check us out at Knox place apartment 1139. Word has gotten around about our parties and literally hundreds of people show up. I HIGHLY encourage yall to check it out. I believe we are throwing another one on the 8th of April. If yall want to know when we throw parties just send me an email.
On to other news, Spring Break was starting to look down for me. Thankfully though I was able to work something out and I will be spending half my vacation in Houston, Texas to work and make some MAJOR money. Yea I know its not the beach in Florida or Cancun but its better then nothing. The work is not hard anyways, I've been doing it for years. I might make a little visit down to South Padre Island (where I'm originally from) to visit and enjoy a few days there. But its off to bed for me, I got meetings in the morning.

Mar. 8th, 2006 09:09 am Updating......finally

Hey everyone sorry bout not having an update lately. It has been the busiest, most hectic week of my life! Football practice has started up to the fullest, and its been...well lets just say tough. They just throw you in there and its BAM, BAM, BAM, nonstop. Its all learning on the go for walk-ons, as they dont really teach you anything. You have to watch the more experienced guys and catch up as best you can. I've been getting better every day, and yesterday I got to play in our first scrimmage! According to the coaches I did really good going against some of the scholarship players like Jakouri Williams, Slick Shelley, and Lucas Taylor. Overall, I posted 5 tackles during the scrimmage and only gave up one pass for 2 yards. So you could say I had a pretty good day of practice.
On to different news, Room selections are this week, and all I can say is THANK GOD! My roomate and I do not get along very well. He's one of those ultra christian guys who judges everyone, is hypocritical, and feels he is superior to everyone else (though he has NO REASON TO THINK SO WHATSOEVER!). Ya'll know the type I'm talking about. I dont have a problem with people judging themselves religiously and morally, but do not judge everyone else to make yourself feel better. I'm trying to get a single room so I dont have to put up with him anymore. Honestly, he's just mad because I have a social life and he sits in the room all weekend. Thats what I think honestly. But now I'm babbling and ya'll dont want to hear about my problems so I will talk to yall later.

Feb. 20th, 2006 10:37 pm My weekend

Hey Hey Hey! How was everyones weekend? I hope it was as good as mine. I'll share a brief little bit of it with yall. Friday, definatly party night for me. I had been stressed out all week studying so I decided to use time I had off to my full advantage. All night I party-hopped from one place to another. And was when I had my own party in Knox place. I kept leaving it, but dont get me wrong, it was a VERY good party. We had bout 100 people or so, but friends I knew kept calling me and they were pretty close to where I was so I had to go make an appearance at least. But anyways, I slept till 2 the next afternoon. Then about four, me and some of the crew went to the ever popular MOES. I think that place is the reason I'm always broke. What do ya think? So I was so exhausted from Friday still I didnt even go out Saturday night. I passed out to sleep around 11 and didnt get up till 3 in the afternoon! It felt so good though. I spent all day Sunday studying for my THREE tests I have Monday and Tuesday!! Yikes I know it sucks to be me right now. But got to hit the books or I will FAIL!

I wonder, which one of the stories out of the book is your favorite of all time? Another thing too, How the world do you put up with Mike and Andrea all the time? It seems like they could get on your nerves sometimes but you are married to Andrea so I guess its a necessary evil. And whatever happened to Greg?? And who pissed in your helmet during football? Did you ever find out and if so, what did you do? Keep up the awesome work I love your stories

Feb. 12th, 2006 03:17 pm Yea.. I got some catching up to do..BUT I GOT GREAT NEWS

You know, this is a historical event for me. This is the first weekend I didnt go out at ALL!! I guess I was burned out with the whole party scene for once. I got wore out dealing with school monday through friday, then going out everynight on the weekend till the next morning. So, I decided to use this weekend to catch up on some sleep and get some personal stuff done..

OOO OOO I almost forgot!! I just thought I would let you guys know I made the football team as a walk-on! Historical weekend indeed. Now all I got to do is make it through spring training. I've always been told I was to small to play football, now look at me! Through hard work here I am with the chance to play for UT. (yes I know we were 5-6 last year, but come on yall, one bad year isnt gonna kill us). And no, I probably wont get to play all that much this fall, not many walk-ons do. But hey, I'm just glad I have the chance to work myself to play at a major football powerhouse. But now, I got homework to finish up, I just thought I would post the news while I was thinking about it.

Feb. 10th, 2006 08:56 am What you dont believe me

I was reading the story about Hines Ward on the Mentally Incontinet website and it reminded me about a story of my own high school glory years. It was the last game of the season. We were 3-6 and out of the playoffs by one game. We, as seniors, had one more game of high school football we would ever play. We were determined to make this seem like our playoff game. And we were determined to win. You could see it in our eyes all week, at practice, in school, heck even at home.

There was just one problem though. The team we were playing was the Haywood Tomcats, 10-0 and the #6 team in the state. The were already a lock for the playoffs. We were just a week of practice for these guys. They were faster, stronger, and much BIGGER on all accounts. No suprise we were 21 point underdogs.

But you know something. Piss on that! You heard me right. They're human, just like us. So if we can feel pain, so can they. And if we couldnt beat them, we would inflict as much pain as possible to them. It was our personal goal to make sure these guys couldnt get up out of bed all weekend. Besides, in what other high school sport is it legal for you to beat the living crap out of someone and be congratulated for it.

So Friday rolls round right. All day, even our own students said we were gonna get killed by these guys. Everytime someone said that to me, I pretty much told them where to go. It was our Senior night, and I had never been so downright mad as I was that day. The intensity was so great in me I thought I might punch through a wall. If they thought that during school I was pissed, you should have seen me during pregame in the locker room. I think I said every cuss word possible fifty times. So I sounded something like this, "This is the last #*&%$@ game we will ever play seniors! These &@# %&!# SOB's think we are a bunch of P_$$%'s. When we get out there, hurt them, hurt them bad!"

Apparently that had an effect. Next thing I know the WHOLE team is fired up ready to cripple someone. We suited up and headed out. Now for those who never played football, there isnt a much better feeling then walking down the steps of the stadium, through the crowd, (kind of like how our UT basketball team does), with 5,000 people cheering for you on both sides. Yea, just thinking about it gives me goosebumps.

Game time baby. First time I took the field on defense was the one moment I wont forget. Let me explain something to you first. For anyone who knows football, I played nosetackle. I was 5'10, 175 pounds. Nose tackles are usually 250 and up, you know, a big lineman. I was the smallest nosetackle in the state I think. But I used my speed and considering I was very strong for my size, I was good at what I did. Well, in the first half, we killed them. Yea thats right, We were beating the CRAP out of the #6 team in the state. We were so fired up and pissed off that we didnt make the playoffs, we were literally hurting these guys. By the time halftime rolled around, we were up 21-7. I mean we were fired up. We kept it up too, when the second half started. But they were ready this time. They knew we were serious about kicking their butts. It was the nastiest football game I've ever had the privilege of playing in. Both teams were trash -talking, laying jacked up hits, and giving cheap shots. I was playing against a guard who was about 6'1, 240 pounds. He came up to me during halftime and said" yo! 56! Im bout to whip your @$$ like a B%&#$" I looked him dead in the face and said "Bring it you P*$$y @$$" Yea I just found me a new punching bag. Both teams went back and forth the second half. Next thing I remembered, it was 1:02 left in the game and they had the ball on our one yard line, and you better believe it was forth down. The score was 35-28. If they scored they would tie us up. Their running back was one of the biggest, strongest, and best in west Tennessee. We knew it was going to him. There goes the snap, Qb turns around and hands the ball off to the tailback, and guess whos there waiting for him. Yea, thats right, ME! Me and one of the linebackers hit him so hard he fell backwards, turning the ball over to us to win the game. That place went absolutly crazy as the fans rushed the field. And I was in the middle of it.
